After talking ot my CT, we concluded that I will be doing my three week lesson on Unit 10, which included imperialism, industrialism and nationalism. I will be teaching this unit a few weeks after Christmas break. This allows me to become comfortable with my students and get to know them better.

Have students read this poem and anaylze its meaning. Then students will compare the poem to a photo from WWI.
Here students will make connections between the two and give the similarities and differences.
Imperialism
Students will read a variety of primary and secondary sources focused on European imperialism in the African continent, including the imperialist rationale and the anti-imperialist rebuttal.
Students will research the Opium War, explore the war's causes, and devise responses to key issues from the Chinese and British perspectives.
Students will label a map of either Africa or Asia at the height of European imperial control from 1900 to 1914, create questions related to the history of imperialism on a particular continent, exchange the map for one of the other continent, and review the map and answer questions.
